DENISE DJOKIC & DAVID JALBERT'S "FOLKLORE" CD ENTERS BILLBOARD CHART AT #15

TORONTO: TUESDAY, MAY 30, 2006: On the heels of receiving both an East Coast Music Award and a Juno nomination in the 'Classical Recording of the Year' category, cellist Denise Djokic and pianist David Jalbert's newest CD, "Folklore" continues to gain critical recognition in the United States and has entered the Billboard Charts at number 15.

Billboard is a weekly American magazine devoted to the music industry. It maintains several internationally recognized music charts that track the most popular albums in various categories on a weekly basis. Billboard is frequently used as the standard measure for ranking music sales in the United States. Djokic and Jalbert join artists such as Maurizio Pollini, Lang Lang, Dawn Upshaw, Yo-Yo Ma, Placido Domingo, Ben Heppner, Renee Fleming and Mitsuko Uchida who are also enjoying their current status on the Billboard top 15.

"Folklore" is the duo's second award-winning collaboration, after her 2002 self-titled release, "Denise Djokic" on the Sony Classics label.

Recorded at Toronto's Glenn Gould Studio by Anton Kwiatkowski, "Folklore" takes the listener on a folk-inspired journey of Europe and features the music of Vaughan-Williams, Stravinsky, Janacek, Schumann and Cassado. The disc has received glowing reviews since its North American release last June.

One of the most captivating young artists of her generation, Denise Djokic has thrilled audiences and critics worldwide with the passion, vigor, and sensitivity of her playing. Already one of North America's most sought after soloists, she has performed as guest soloist with every leading orchestra in Canada and with others internationally. Denise was also a featured performer at the 2002 Grammy Awards.

David Jalbert's personal style, incomparable stage presence and refined ear, has impressed audiences and critics alike. His first solo disc, dedicated to the works of Corigliano and Rzewski, was launched in 2004. David's new solo disc of the complete Faure Nocturnes was recently released earlier this May, also on Endeavor Classics.
